Oh, I know.....
Today: the Louvre. Here Nancy and I are joined by Lamassu, a new Assyrian friend. He is a Horse-legged Genie Protector (undoubtedly the best kind), and he manned the gates to the Sargon City with dignity for about 2,600 years, until a French archaeologist thought he might do better guarding the Seine from that particularly anti-French breed of invader, the English tourist. Well planned; we encountered many a Highlander today, dressed in a kilt and singing through the streets. Why, you ask? No one is certain. Perhaps in an attempt to outdo tomorrow's drunken Irish revelry.
If you like, you may view les autres photos du jour *ici.* Il n'ya pas trop. For some reason, the colors look nicer if you regardez them with the slideshow.
For a wikipedian (and clearer) picture of Lamassu, the winged bull, look here. Since we got along so well, I'm thinking of booking him for my next flight to Europe.
